We're currently hiring for a part-time Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Will County, IL. This position offers a chance to make a direct impact by supporting students with visual impairments through personalized instruction and adaptive learning strategies.
Position Overview
The Teacher of the Visually Impaired will provide tailored instruction and curriculum modifications to meet the individual needs of visually impaired students. Working under the direction of the Building Principal and in collaboration with general education staff, this educator will create accessible learning experiences that support academic and functional skill development.
Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (Part-Time)
Location: Will County, IL
Grade Level: K–12
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 20 hours per week
Compensation: Starting at $45/hour
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement instructional lessons aligned with students' IEPs

Adapt curriculum materials and instructional techniques to ensure accessibility

Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support personnel to integrate appropriate accommodations

Provide direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility skills as needed

Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations

Promote a learning environment that fosters independence and academic success
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field

Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)

Endorsement in Teacher of Students Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired
