Position Details:

Position: Paraprofessionals

Location: Winsted, CT (multiple area schools)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, Full-Time (School Hours)

Grade Levels: Assignments vary (Elementary through High School)

School Year: 2025–2026

Responsibilities:

• Support students with academic work, classroom routines, and behavior management.

• Assist teachers with instructional activities and organizing class materials.

• Provide one-on-one or small-group support tailored to student needs.

• Help implement accommodations outlined in IEPs and 504 plans.

• Supervise students during transitions, recess, and other school settings.

• Encourage a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom culture.

Qualifications:

While Connecticut does not require a state-issued license for paraprofessionals, most districts follow federal Title I guidelines, recommending candidates meet one of the following:

• Completed at least two years of post-secondary study (minimum 60 credit hours).

• Earned an associate’s degree or higher.

• Achieved a passing score on a state or local assessment that measures knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.

• Prior experience working with students or in school settings is preferred.
