We have an exciting new opportunity for an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher in Will County, IL for the 2025-2026 school year.

This position offers a rewarding opportunity to support students with moderate to severe disabilities through engaging physical education tailored to individual needs. The APE Teacher will plan, develop, and deliver instruction that promotes growth in balance, strength, mobility, and motor coordination, while collaborating closely with school teams and families.

The APE Teacher will provide both direct and consultative services to students requiring adaptive physical education and will play an active role in the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process for students being evaluated for or currently receiving services.

Position Details:

  • Location: In-Person (no hybrid or remote options)

  • Schedule: Full school days, Monday–Friday

  • Typical Hours: 8:30 AM–3:40 PM

  • Grade Level: K–12, district-wide

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging instructional lessons to improve balance, strength, mobility, and motor coordination.

  • Provide direct instruction to students and consultative support to staff and families.

  • Adapt physical education activities to meet individual student needs.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and progress monitoring.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, therapists, and other professionals to support student development.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with families and team members.

Qualifications:

  • Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Physical Education Endorsement.

  • Adaptive Physical Education Approval or ability to obtain an Adaptive PE Approval.

  • Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities preferred.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
