We’re partnering with a school district in Cook County, Illinois to hire a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher for the 2025–2026 school year. This position covers a leave-of-absence in a self-contained 7th/8th grade classroom. The class is a small group of students with excellent support, ideal for a teacher who can jump in and start immediately.
In this role, you’ll lead the classroom, implement IEPs, support academic and social-emotional growth, and maintain a structured, positive learning environment.

Schedule: Full-time; School Hours
Duration: Now – May 29, 2026
School Year: 2025–2026
Responsibilities:

Teach and manage a self-contained 7th/8th grade special education classroom.

Implement and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Collaborate with support staff, administrators, and families to meet student needs.

Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.

Track and report on student progress.

Keep accurate documentation according to district and state requirements.
Qualifications:

Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Special Education endorsement.

Experience with middle school students preferred.

Ability to adapt quickly to a new classroom.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.
