This position begins January 5, 2026 and runs through the end of the school year. The role focuses on co-teaching and supporting sixth-grade students in an inclusive middle school setting.

Position Summary

The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with IEPs, primarily in a co-taught classroom environment. This educator will collaborate closely with general education teachers to differentiate instruction, support academic and behavioral needs, and ensure student success within the general education curriculum. The ideal candidate is a team-oriented professional with strong knowledge of IEP implementation and inclusive teaching practices.

• Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (standard school hours)

Responsibilities

• Co-teach daily with general education teachers to support inclusion and differentiated learning.

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that meet students’ unique needs.

• Adapt curriculum and instruction to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications.

• Collect data, monitor progress, and adjust instruction to ensure student growth.

• Collaborate with families, support staff, and administrators to promote positive learning outcomes.

• Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (required).

• Experience working in middle school or inclusive classroom settings preferred.

• Knowledge of co-teaching models, IEP processes, and progress monitoring.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

• Commitment to inclusive education and student-centered teaching.
